Holston Mountain Hat Project was founded in 2005 as a small craft business featuring handmade hats & accessories for sale and donation. The “Project” in the business name refers to the donations to groups & organizations that provide services for those in need of hats. Our intent, which has indeed been realized, was to make at least one hat every day for a stranger. After more than 20 years of hat making, we have donated more than 25,000. Donations have been made to several organizations, usually in the towns/areas where I set up shop as a vendor at a Music Festival, Holiday Market, Art/Craft Fair or other Special Event. The organizations I have been honored to donate hats to include but are not limited to:
* Local Red Cross Chapter Disaster Kits
* Groups that provide support & services to those who have lost their hair due to medical treatment or injury.
* Homeless & Domestic Abuse Shelters
*US Military Personnel providing relief services
*Orphanages in Northern Asia/Mongolia
*Hospital NICU Units
